While working my way through college at the YWCA during the 80's I got to know Jim very well . He would ride the bus to the Y every Saturday morning like clockwork, regardless of the weather. Jim especially loved to sit in the sauna and the hot tub. He was always so cheerful and had such a positive outlook on life. We had many conversations over a can of pop or bag of chips. Although I never met her he spoke often of his mother and all that she did for him. Rest in peace my friend.

We can say that Jim was "special"--yes, he was special to so many of us that had the privilege and joy to call him a friend. My memories of Jim go back to the time he was with the Special Olympics group who came to the YW. He would become a long time member who, when entering the YW, would always open my office door (never knocked) and say, "hi sweetie" and then on to the pool. Jimmy will always be remembered with a huge smile on his face. He was a gift from Heaven and anyone who knew him knew that. He loved people and people loved him. My mother-Jimmy's aunt always said, "If you want to see Jimmy you have to go where there is music, because Jimmy loved music. RIP Jimmy...I will never forget you.
